Art 3870: Art of the Web

Web Presentation:
Nike.com
Goals:
- Functions like a glossy,
stylish and attractive shrine for all of Nike's shoes in the current market.
- Provides exciting possibilities
including ability to customize shoes and other products (colors and style).
- Gives special attention
to each sport: basketball, football, running, golf, skatebording etc. and
showcases shoes accordingly.
- Detailed descriptions,
pictures and videos of shoes available under the Nike brand.
- Also has an online store
dedicated to Nike shoe sales
Visitors/Target Audience:
- Youngsters and Teenagers
predominantly are the target audience and most likely visitors
- Amongst the general public:
sports' fans, shoe enthusiasts and internet shopping buffs
- Serves as great eye-candy
for others (even if the goal isn't to buy anything!)
Highlights/What you can
do here:
- Watch an abundance
of video trailers/previews of shoes that are arriving soon or are currently
available in the market promoted by basketball or football celebrities.
- Go through an array of
shoes and products in an attractive showroom style presentation.
- Customize colors of almost
every part of the shoe of your choice and also pick a size & style of
your choice.
- Each sport,
whether it is basketball, football, golf or cycling, has a separate page with
unique content, look and feel & layout.
- You can go on
a short trip into the Nike Lab (and take a somewhat mock-look at what happens
inside!)
- You can find
a retailer, pick a global Nike site (with a language of your choice!). ("International"
option is also available!).
Navigation:
- Navigation is relatively
simple (but is left to individual goals & tastes).
- There is a lot of flexibility
to browse casually around the entire site and check out the features.
- You can go straight to
the online store from the first nike.com page with ease and don't have to
search and suffer to much.
Plus & Minus:
- Very effective
and attractive in terms of presentation, style & color.
- The flash images
load relatively fast and there is a lot of space for experimentation (hands-on)
in the site. (You can rotate the shoe in any direction you wish to see it
and so forth!)
- I couldn't figure
out my way from Nikelab.com back to Nike.com.
- There might
be interested visitors to this site who might not have flash and a purely
html site option would be most welcome for them.
- Older audiences
may not warmly embrace this site as it may seem too gaudy, garrish and crowded
to their liking. On the contrary, fans of the Nike ads on television, will
lap this up in a jiffy!
